All Categories – In this section you can obtain links to online digital books for all categories. This is the single best starting point for smaller cities.
For larger cities you may need to perform a date specific search. A drop down menu has been included with pre-populated date ranges. The category “Books” will include all types of books. The dropdown also allows you to select a particular category as well.
The results of the search will be shown below the map. Make sure to use the scroll bar so you can see all occurances.
We recently added a new category (Freedmen) to the drop down which filters the search to handwritten books from the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned land covering 1865 – 1872. This is a collection of over 450 books covering the states Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland and Washington DC.
To limit your search to Freedmen just change the dropdown from “Books” to “Freedmen”.
